Dr. Scott Faulkner Dr. Faulkner carries on a family tradition of veterinary medicine. His father was one of the first veterinarians in the state of Iowa to practice small animal medicine, and “Dr. Scott” started working for him when he was 12. We are proud to say that this has been a family business for 50 years now. Doc’s wife, Caitlin and daughter Katie are by his side helping run the practice. He is the general surgeon for the practice, and is proud to have been one of the first in the area to offer laser surgery. After more than 35 years, he enjoys semi-retired status-though still working several days weekly all year round.
In his off hours, you can find him playing raquetball, maintaining his acreage, or guiding pheasant hunters with one of his amazing dogs. He and Caitlin have a hobby kennel, Doc’s Bird Dogs, and raise and sell Llewellin Setters and Epagneul Bretons.

Dr. Sue Barnes Dr. Sue Barnes graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary medicine in 1988. She is thrilled to be back after a 6 year “sabbatical” and we are even more thrilled to have her. Her experience and thoroughness in her medical practice and her love of pets make her an exceptional Veterinarian and an exceptional member of our team. She has a special interest in feline medicine but can’t get through the day without seeing her canine patients as well! Dr. Barnes grew up in Ankeny, so she is a familiar face to many of you, and she still lives here with her teenage son, Logan. She also shares the house with her two cats, Houdini and Rico and her dog, Molly. She spends most her free time chauffeuring her son to his activities. Any extra time is spent walking or reading.
