Caitlin
Caitlin is Dr. Scott’s “better half.” She has been working with Doc since they purchased the clinic in 1991…he does the medicine she does the rest! Now that she has turned over the practice management reigns to their daughter, Katie, you will see her smiling face most often behind the receptionist desk.  “What a job! I get to cuddle everyone’s furry babies all day, laugh with the people I’m helping, work with people I love, and bring my own pet with me to work…it’s heaven!” Like her husband, Caitlin is enjoying semiretirement. When not at work she enjoys drawing, painting, glass work, remodeling and raising puppies with their Epagneul Breton, Frenchie and 7 Llewellin Setters.

Nicole
Nicole may be a familiar face to many of you, as she has been with us since 2000 as our lead receptionist. She enjoys meeting and getting to know you and your furry and feathered friends on a personal level. Her sharp wit and keen sense of humor is a delight for both clients and staff. Her organizational skills keep the front office running smoothly, our food shelves stocked, and your pets reminders sent on time. As well as her cat, Daisy and her dog, Woody.  Nicole is happily married with three small children.

Katie
Katie, daughter of Doc and Caitlin, is carrying on the family tradition working as our Practice Manager.  We’ ve become so dependent on her superior skills we don’t know how we ever got along without her. Katie started out as a receptionist for us in high school. She went on to University of Iowa and obtained her BA in social work. Katie came back to work for us for “the summer” after she graduated and enjoyed working here so much she decided to stay. She went from receptionist to technician, then head technician and finally became our Practice Manager.  Katie is married with one son and a daughter on the way.  They have a cat named White Foot Jones.  In her spare time she says…”what spare time?”

Liz
Liz says she “has had the pleasure of working here as a kennel technician since 2006.” She takes care of all of the boarders and daycare animals.  Liz takes great pride in spoiling them as much as possible and providing them with the best care while their owners are away.  She excelled at her job so much we made her Kennel Manager and she runs the facility flawlessly! She has a natural instinct with animals and is one of our greatest assets. When she’s not working you can find her outdoors running and walking with her Siberian huskies, Kobe and Kato, and hanging out with her friends.

Mark
Mark loves animals and his bachelor’s degree in zoology and master’s degree in biology make him very happy to be working here. He has been a biology teacher and an insurance adviser. Along with customer service at the front desk, he is also the “fix it” man, taking care of the building and creating our beautiful landscape. Mark has two grown children and a Blue and Gold Macaw, Phoebe, which has become his new child. Mark enjoys meeting and chatting with all of our clients and their great pets!

  Cat
Cat has been working in the veterinary field since 1999. She started as a receptionist at a cat hospital in her home state of Massachusetts.  Cat fell in love with veterinary medicine immediately and did everything in her power to learn all she could with on-the-job training in  clinics and volunteer work in shelters.  She moved to Chicago in 2006 where she worked as a Veterinary Nurse at the Cat Hospital of Chicago and was promoted to Lead Veterinary Nurse in 2008. She then relocated to Iowa in 2010 when her husband, Mick McAuliffe, became the Pet  Behavior and Enrichment Manager at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL). To our good fortune we hired Cat when they relocated here. She is a free spirit that has a warm, happy, earthy glow about her. Cat lives in Des Moines with her husband, their 6 rescued pets including 4 cats, Sampson, Tigger, Tyrone, and Magoo, a bulldog named Lucy, and 2 African Grey Parrots named Jackson and Zane. Cat’s hobbies include watching her beloved New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox, shoe shopping, gardening, and renovating their 100 year old house.

 Laura
Laura joined our team  in 2008. She is a Certified Veterinary Technician and part time receptionist and we are very excited to have her. She has a personality and a sparkle that just lights up the room when she enters it. Laura grew up in Ankeny. She attended and graduated from the DMACC Veterinary Technician program in the spring of 2007.  Laura is a super organizer and so is perfect as our Inventory Manager. She brings a joy and enthusiasm to our practice that just can’t be beat and chances are if you or your child ever went to Ankeny High School she will know you. She seems to know everyone! In her free time Laura likes to spend time with her fiance, read, crochet, play video games, and snuggle with her cat, Woodstock.

Lauren
Lauren found her love for animals at an early age. She grew up playing with her dog and many cats on a farm near Humboldt, Iowa. That love continued through college where she worked at the vet school helping injured wildlife. Lauren graduated from Iowa State University in May 2008 with degrees in Animal Ecology and Environmental Studies. To continue her education, she pursued a Veterinary Technician degree from Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. We were lucky enough to have Lauren intern with us and snapped her up before anyone else could and it was a superior decision on our part! Lauren lives here with her boyfriend and Jack Russell/Border Collie mix, Bella. She enjoys cooking, running, outdoor activities and just being with friends and family.  We just enjoy Lauren!

 Zach
Zach joined our team in August 2009. He works part time as one of our Kennel/Boarding Technicians. Besides being a tireless worker and having the most “willing to help attitude,” his outgoing and hilarious personality immediately made him indispensable. Zach works full time at PDI, is married with a new son and has 3 cats, Mr. Kitty, Miss Kitty, and Charmin. Zach owned Miss Kitty and when he met his wife she had “Mr. Kitty” and he knew they were meant to be…true story!. Together they adopted Charmin.  When Zach isn’t working (which isn’t often) you can find him bike riding, fishing, or sitting in his gigantic lawn chair enjoying his family.

   Kisha
Kisha started working as a Technician in 2004 in Phoenix, AZ. She moved to Iowa to attend college on a basketball scholarship.  She has worked at Ankeny Animal and Avian Clinic since 2008 and is a marvelous addition to the family. She has always had a passion for the animal health care profession. She likes to play sports especially basketball which she played while attending William Penn University. She also enjoys going to the gym with her husband and staying active.

She has a genuine love of people, a passion for pets, and a tremendous sense of humor. Catherine is married and has two Dachshunds, Kaylee and Dyson. When not working Catherine likes to “hang out with my friends and family, hang out with my wienies, and swim.”
